Allison Swan- Owner/President, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

A pillar in funeral service, Allison is the President and Managing Director at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. He started his career as a funeral service assistant in 1965, before apprenticing under James A.P. Allen. He earned his Funeral Director’s and Embalmer’s license in 1971.

Driven by his personal mission to serve and care for Island families, Allison is devoted to ongoing education and service to his community. He has mentored countless funeral service professionals during his decades of service. He is a past president of the Funeral Service Association of Canada, PEI Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, and served as the General Chairperson for the Atlantic Provinces Funeral Directors and Service Convention in 1977 and 1988. These leadership positions have allowed him to foster relationships with colleagues from coast to coast.

Allison’s involvement in the community extends beyond his profession. He is a 40+ year member of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown and Freemasonry Victoria Lodge No. 2, Charlottetown.

Gail (Harper) Swan- Owner and Licensed Funeral Director

Gail began her career with MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel in 1979, serving families alongside her husband, Allison. As a Licensed Funeral Director and Manager with MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel, Gail is involved in serving families and tending to the financial aspects of the profession.

She is a respected Sunday School teacher, forming open and caring relationships with her students. She provides pulpit supply for numerous Prince Edward Island churches and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Gail enjoys creating treasures for her granddaughter and extended family.

Jodi Swan- Licensed Funeral Director, Certified Funeral Celebrant, and Certified Funeral Service Practitioner

Jodi is an experienced Licensed Funeral Director, Registered Social Worker, Certified Grief Counselor and Certified Funeral Celebrant. Driven by her desire to support families, she takes pride in providing comfort, support, and guidance to the families we serve. She is committed to life-long learning, holding the CFSP designation from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. In 2020, she earned the Certified Cremation Services Provider (CCSP) certification from the National Funeral Directors Association.

She is a Fellow in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement (FT), and has also trained as an end-of-life doula.

In addition to her work, she is actively involved in her local and global community, serving on the Board of Directors of the PEI Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, as well as a member of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty. Jodi also serves on the Board of Directors and finance committee of the international organization, the Association of Death Education and Counseling.
