Passed peacefully in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 13, 2022 of Alan Albert Brady of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on May 27, 1941 the son of the late James A. and Margaret (Wright) Brady. Alan is survived by his wife of 58 years B. Gail (Lavers) Brady; sons Michael (Matti Polychronis) of Vancouver, BC, Jeffery (Jacqueline) of Edmonton, AB, and Gregory (Julianna Lin) of Baltimore, MD; granddaughter, Avery; nieces Brenda Brady and Andrea Patte, and nephew Chris Brady. He was predeceased by his brothers James M. Brady and Robert Brady and his Yorkshire Terrier, Shelby.
Alan earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Dunstan’s University in 1964. He then moved west to Edmonton, AB to pursue a career in the Management Trainee Program of the Hudson’s Bay Company, working in furniture sales and later started his own business as a manufacturer’s agent for several furniture companies. In 1978 he moved to Saskatoon, SK and became the representative of Sklar-Peppler furniture for Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
He maintained his love of sports, especially hockey, coaching his sons and holding seasons tickets for the first seasons of the Edmonton Oilers and many seasons of the Saskatoon Blades and numerous Island teams.
In 2000, Alan and Gail retired and returned to P.E.I., purchasing a home in Stratford. Alan was active in the Charlottetown Y’s Men Club, the Kirkwood Koffee Klub, St. Dunstan’s University Reunion Committee, St. Peter’s Cathedral and Trinity United Church and served on the board of the Charlotte and Stamper Residences.
In his retirement years he rekindled many friendships from his youth and made many new friends. Many will remember Alan walking his dog on the Victoria Park boardwalk. He will also be remembered by his friends and family for his sense of humor and steadfast support. Alan was intensely proud of his sons and of how he fostered their education, with them going on to earn many university degrees.
