Fred passed away peacefully at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on the evening of Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and with his wife Shirley at his side, holding his hand.

 

Fred had a great love of the Island, its people and its history and was committed to its past, present and its future both in his personal and professional life. He was a gifted communicator, loved to write and was known for his ability to move a crowd through a speech – one he was asked to prepare or on the spot. These talents were backed by a vivid imagination and a creative analytical mind that lent weight to his enjoyment of a good evening of passionate debating or brilliant story telling often applying his gift as an embellisher of details! A lifelong aficionado of all things cars, boats and architecture, he kept on top of the latest trends, designs and innovations and was a devoted fan of the ultimate horse – the Ferrari. Fred’s optimism and his passion for life gave him the ability to turn the mundane into an adventure. Teaching the kids to mow the grass became the Stiga School of Driving; monitoring the height of the kids every summer became The Great Measuring, complete with official roles, titles and implements suitable to the positions. Fred turned problems to opportunity and sadness into a reflection of blessings in life. His optimism and positive outlook were infectious.

 

Fred’s faith formed the framework of his life and his vivid imagination and curiosity filled in the details. He was undaunted by the mysteries of faith and embedded Christian values into his daily living. Fred was deeply thoughtful about the direction of our community and its culture and was attentive to the difficulties and suffering of others. He believed in the potential of people and his communities and devoted himself to those around him and their futures, helping drive numerous ventures to the benefit of his community and neighbours. He believed in the potential of youth and in their futures and gave freely of his time and talents and was grateful for the opportunities to help.

 

Fred’s contributions to those around him were formerly recognised in 2011 when he was inducted into the Order of Canada. He was described as a pillar of the community in Prince Edward Island. He was a pivotal volunteer, fundraiser, philanthropist and go-to leader who has made lasting contributions in the areas of education, heritage, the arts and economic development. Fred was also active at the national level, sharing his business acumen with health care, banking and corporate institutions. desiderantes meliorem patraim “they desire a better country”.

 

Fred was born in his beloved community of Charlottetown, PEI, the second of three children to parents Norah Cecile “Cis” (née Shannon) of Georgetown, Guyana and the Honourable Frederick Walter Hyndman of Charlottetown. Fred is predeceased by nephew Matthew Hyndman, brother-in-law Reverend Canon James Ibbott and his parents Walter and Cis and father-in-law Benjamin Guy Gamester and mother-in-law Helen Gamester (née Acorn). Fred will be forever missed and loved by his wife of 60 years Shirley (née Gamester), his daughters Helen (Daren Singer) and Norah (Paul McNeill) and his three grandchildren Madeline Singer and Carmen and Sam McNeill. Fred will be missed by his sister Winifred “Nancy” Ibbott of Charlottetown and brother Dr. John “Joe” Hyndman (Debbi Sullivan) of Halifax. Fred is also survived by many nephews and nieces, extended family members and dear friends.

 

A funeral mass will be held at St. Peters Cathedral on Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m.

The death occurred suddenly in Drayton Valley, Alberta, of Lorne Irving Boswall, age 69 years. He is survived by his sons Matthew, Nicholas, and Christopher (Tere), and 8 grandchildren. Eva Annette Finlayson Beede, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now in Heaven.

 

Born on September 16, 1935, in Martinvale, Prince Edward Island, Canada, to Samuel and Evelyn Finlayson, Eva grew up in Bangor and Brackley Beach. At the age of 18, she moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she met her beloved husband, Charles Beede. They married in August 1957 and shared nearly seven decades of love and partnership.

 

Eva devoted her life to caring for others. She was known for her kindness, compassion, faith, humor, and generous spirit. She loved serving her community, volunteering in many roles, and spent nearly 15 years as a Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant, bringing comfort, dignity, and compassion to those in need.

 

Eva is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Beede of Wellington, Florida; her siblings, Samuel Finlayson and Mary Singleton of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steven Maxwell; granddaughters Haley Maxwell and Caitlin Fuller and her husband, Tyler Fuller; and her cherished great-grandson, Tyler Fuller Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Graham W. Stewart passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 79.

 

Born on November 23, 1946, in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Bill and Ruby Stewart and the beloved brother of Bettie Holbrook. He spent his teenage years in New Germany, NS, before attending Acadia University, where he met his lifelong friend, Allan Ledgerwood. He graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in 1971.

 

He began his legal career as a public prosecutor with the Nova Scotia Attorney General’s Department. In 1976, he joined the Prince Edward Island Department of Justice before entering private practice and co-founding Campbell Stewart Law, where he faithfully served his clients for more than four decades until his health forced him to retire in 2025.

 

He served two terms as president of the Law Society of PEI, was appointed King’s Counsel, was an active member of the Hillsborough Rotary Club, and was a charter member of Fountain Lake Lodge.

 

He was married to Lori Stewart for 44 years. Graham was the proud father of Jennifer Snow and Andrew Stewart, and grandfather of Jesse and Fox Close, and Zoey and Ivy Stewart.

 

Outside the office, he was happiest in the woods with a Springer Spaniel bounding ahead of him. He loved music of every kind. He played bass (often too loudly) in a neighbourhood garage band for over twenty years and was still Rockin’ The Blues ’til he died.

 

Graham’s children and his sister, Bettie, extend their deepest thanks to the many friends, caregivers, and health professionals who supported Graham following his stroke in 2025.

 

Cremation has taken place. At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral. At the insistence of the bereaved, there will be a celebration of Graham’s life for invited guests.

 

In Graham’s memory, please help a friend, put on some rock and roll, and spend some time in nature.

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine Anne MacAulay (née MacDonald) on Monday, June 29, 2026.

 

Lorraine was the devoted mother of Heather MacAulay (Andrew Bonnell) and Sheryl MacAulay (Steven Myers), who were, without question, the greatest pride of her life. She was also the most loving grandmother to Charlotte, Leo, Louie, Arthur, and Mila, a role she embraced with endless joy and unconditional love. Nothing made Lorraine happier than watching her family grow, celebrate their accomplishments, and simply spend time together.

 

She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Anne Robichaud (Rick), Clara Roberge (Wayne), Bernie Allan (the late Terry), along with nephews Patrick, Jason and Andrew, niece Jennifer, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were brighter because Lorraine was in them. Predeceased by her parents Roland and Marjorie (McInnis) MacDonald, brother Leonard, and infant siblings.

 

Lorraine lived life wholeheartedly. She had a contagious energy, a larger-than-life personality, and a heart that welcomed and accepted everyone. She loved deeply, laughed often, and had an incredible ability to make people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Whether sharing a story, offering encouragement, or bringing people together, Lorraine's presence filled every room with warmth and life.

 

She often said that her greatest accomplishments were her daughters and grandchildren. They were the centre of her world and the legacy she cherished most. Her love for them was immeasurable, and it was reflected in every hug, every proud smile, and every moment she spent cheering them on.

 

Lorraine leaves behind a family who will forever carry her strength, generosity, optimism, and zest for life. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
