On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Allen James Coleman “Running Black Wolf” started his journey to the spirit world.
Allen was well-known in the community for his sense of humour, brutal honesty, and kind heart.
He will be lovingly remembered by his father Hartley Coleman, brothers Josh Berens and Harley Coleman, sister Amanda Wellwood, grandmother Noreen Wellwood, uncle Billy Larkin, aunts Rose Rafuse, Mildred “Peacock” Berens, and Doreen Driskell, special friend Crystal Labonte, special cousins (more like siblings) William, Korey (Jessica), Kreighton (Stacey), Kayla (Mike), Parker, Ebony (George), and Destinee (Allie) Larkin, Nick McInnis, Vanessa Coleman, Shaline Coleman (Doug) and the Driskell family. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family. Predeceased by his Kookum Bella Berens, great-uncle Larry Coleman and auntie Lorna Larkin.
Allen had a circle of chosen spiritual family including uncle John Gallant, aunties Joyce Gallant and Lynn Bradley, Cuz Big J (Jason Sark), his spirit brother Stephenson Joe, and his elders Junior Peter Paul and Sarah Jackson.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Rising Sun Treatment Centre, Winter St. Men’s Shelter, Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI and the Native Council of PEI.
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Thursday from the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. If so desired, memorial donations may be made directly to Winter St. Men’s Shelter. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life followed by a feast will take place on Panmure Island at the Native Council Cultural Park at a later date.
