It is with great sadness the family of Jennie Etta (MacDonald) Murchison of Point Prim, PEI, announces her passing at Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge, Belfast, PEI at the age of 93. Wife of 54 years to the late Manson Murchison. She will be deeply missed by her son Neil (Denise), grandchildren Manson (Anne) Locke, Rochelle Locke, Steven Murchison (Sara) and Deneille Murchison (Curtis McNeill), as well as great-grandchildren Adelaide and Thomas Locke, Kai and Lacey Vandanhauvel, Chelsea Bea Murchison, and Brynn and Beckett McNeill. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Reta MacDonald and friend and roommate Edie Martin, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by daughter Lorraine Murchison, parents John G. and Mabel (MacIsaac) MacDonald, sisters Millicent “Mae” Machin and Nettie Webb, and brother Elmer MacDonald.
Jennie grew up in Milo and worked in Summerside before marrying Manson. After two years of farming in Brae, they moved to Point Prim, where they built their home and raised their family. Jennie was a stay-at-home mother, except when she worked on the harvest in the fall. Later in life she worked for approximately 14 years with Northumberland Ferries. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, and her cherished grandchildren adored her. She was active in the Ladies of the Church and the Millenium Club. Her kindness to others was shown in many ways, but especially in the baking she did for those going through tough times.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Gillis Memorial Lodge for the kindness and care Mum/Nannie received there. To Winston and Cathy Murchison, Robin and Kenny Jackson, and Rose MacKinnon, thank you for the support you showed Mum that allowed her to stay in her beloved home until she was 90. To Linda Lea and Neila Nicholson, thank you for your many visits to her in the Lodge. She loved seeing you!
