The death occurred peacefully at Beach Grove Home on Monday, February 1, 2021 of Lorne F. Keizer of Charlottetown, age 96 years. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (Moore) Keizer. Loving father of the late Heather (Chris Lepage), Margaret, Stirling (Heather), and Charles (Joanne). Grandfather of Maria Tremblay, Anne Lepage, Addison Keizer, Katherine Keizer, Madeline Keizer, and Benjamin Keizer. Great-grandfather of Andrew Simpson, Malcolm Thompson, and William Thompson. Survived by sister Mabel Carmichael. Predeceased by his parents Lester and Katie (Watkins) Keizer, siblings Frederick (Edna) and Amy, and brother-in-law Hoagy Carmichael.
Lorne was an avid fisherman and passionate advocate for environmental issues. He was president of the Canadian Wildlife Federation, PEI Wildlife Federation, and a life member of the Haviland Club. He could often be found fishing at Officer’s Pond, well into his 80’s. He was an active member of Trinity United Church serving as an elder, and volunteer with all church activities. He was always supplied cookies for the church nursery, which were enjoyed by many.
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. A graveside service will be held at York Cemetery in the spring. A Masonic service of remembrance will be held for invited brethren. If so desired, memorials to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society of PEI would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.macleanfh.com
