Cynthia Ann Windsor, beloved wife of 32 years to the late Andrew Gilbert Windsor, beloved Mother to Shawn (Christine), Sharilyn, and Tobias (Breanna), and proud Nana to Nikki, Ashley, Jason, Charlotte, Emelia and Adelynn, beloved daughter to Janet and the late Winston Smith, beloved sister to Cathy, Ken (Karen), the late Irwin, Mary Lynn, Sue (Glen) and Kelly (Mikaela), and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, died after an intense yet short battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre.
Our family would like to send a special gesture of gratitude to all of the angels at the Centre - it is not how any of us wanted to see our Cynthia, but how you cared for her like she was your own Mother is a blessing that we cannot thank you enough for.
Cynthia was a vivacious woman - full of love, life, wonder, and curiosity - her kindness and ability to connect with people and make everyone smile was second to none. Cynthia started her adult life before she was an adult herself. Cynthia created a loving home and environment, was incredibly driven taking on a career in finance and persevering through thick and thin to do whatever it took to keep her family together.
Kind, brave and uncomplaining to the end, full of love and funny, full of appreciation to her caregivers to her last moments, she will be greatly missed by her beloved island community that she loved and was central to in a sublimely understated way.
Cynthia married the love of her life in July 1985. It is a love story worth sharing - Cynthia and Andrew shared a love that is not common. When Andrew died in 2017, Cynthia was devastated. She carried on living the best life she could, surrounded by her family in the place she was born and the place she wanted to pass. She never stopped grieving and missed him immensely. There is no coincidence that Cynthia prolonged her struggle so she could pass on to her next adventure reconnecting with Andrew. She passed on the very day Andrew passed, 8 years earlier, within a half hour of the time Andrew passed. The very last thing Cynthia ever did had every one of her family members in mind. She reinforced the idea that there is something more. She gave us a crazy story to tell, and it will very likely have the people who hear it questioning or reaffirming their own beliefs. We aren't talking about how sick she was. We aren't talking about how hard it was. We're talking about how she took control of her own destiny right at the very end and left on her own terms.
Thank you Cynthia, from your Mother, your Father who rests in peace, your siblings, your children, your grandchildren and your friends. You are truly the most special person and will be painfully missed by all of us.
Thank you also to St. Andrew’s Church, where Cynthia worked and took the most pride in supporting her community and her friends. Your kindness helped all of us deal with the shock of losing the most beautiful woman way too soon.
Cynthia never was home without the music on - here is a quote that will make us all cry, and smile and long to see her beautiful green eyes and contagious smile.
“Cynthia, won’t you take me too,
Pyramid Lake with you,
We could watch the spaceships,
Maybe they’d take us on a trip,
Into that never ending sky,
Into the wide and endless nite”.
Until we see you again dear Cyn. Rest in peace here where we honour you. But in your new adventure, we want you to feel the afterglow and shine! You meant so much to so many people. Thank you. Dance in the clouds. The best is yet to come. See you when we see you.

Charles M. MacKinnon, in his 89th year, of Cornwall, PEI, passed away peacefully with family by his side at the QEH on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret MacKinnon, son Murray and daughter Lori Belle. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary Belle MacKinnon, brother Archie (Rita), sister Mary (Allan), two infant siblings, and in-laws, John Alex and Grace Ross.
Charles grew up in Canoe Cove, PEI and attended school at the one-room Canoe Cove Schoolhouse and then at Prince of Wales College.
He started his trucking career in the early 60’s and became an Owner-operator long haul trucker for many years, travelling throughout all of Canada and the United States. Trying to be closer to home and family, in the mid 70’s he purchased the Cornwall Esso and Cornwall Cartage, a pickup and delivery Depot for Maritime-Ontario. In the early 80’s the call of the open road called once again, and he went back long haul. After retiring from trucking, he would still enjoy going for long drives, once going for a memorable drive up the Alaska Highway.
Charles was a proud Kingston Legion Branch 30 Member since 1981, an early member of the Cornwall Lions Club with his neighbors Bill Cole and Jim Fleming, loved playing golf and crib many nights of the week during the winters up until a couple years ago.
Charles always worked hard for his family, with a positive attitude and exhibited great perseverance dealing with health issues.
Special Thanks to the Staff at the QEH ER, Dr. Murnaghan, Dr. Richard, Dr. Murphy and Dr. Lecours from Palliative Care, as well as the Staff of Unit 3 and Unit 8 for making Dad’s final days comfortable. Thanks to Melanie McCarthy, NP at the QEH Renal Unit.
Charles will leave the MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel with a truck escort at 10:00am on Saturday August 16, 2025, going to the Canoe Cove Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. and a Celebration of Life will follow at the Kingston Branch 30 in New Haven, PEI.
