Bill was born on the family farm in Carleton Siding. At the age of 12, the family moved to Charlottetown where Bill attended Queen Charlotte and then Prince of Wales College. In 1962, he began working at the Charlottetown Agricultural Research Station where he remained until retiring in 1995. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Sherwood Fire Department for many years. Bill was a voracious genealogist who spent countless hours combing the records at the Public Archives searching for his own ancestors as well as those of clients and friends, and clients who became friends. He had a great love of history. As an avid golfer, Bill loved nothing more than playing a round of golf with family members or friends. Bill was known by all for his incredible sense of humor, always ready with a joke or funny story. Bill’s greatest joy was watching his family grow. He was proud Poppy to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all their friends.
