The death occurred at his late residence on Sunday, October 8, 2023, of Alexander “Alex” Duncan Matheson of Charlottetown, age 37 years. Alexander was a beautiful human. His passions included music, hiking and living a healthy lifestyle. Barbara Elizabeth Henry, 77 years young, passed away peacefully September 14, 2023, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Barbara was surrounded by wonderful friends who kept her company while she passed. She came into this world the daughter of Pauline and Gilbert Henry and was affectionately known by her dad as “Miss Susie”. Barbara was the sister to two older brothers, Robert (Hester) and the late Richard (Marlene). She was a proud and loving aunt to the late Daniel, Robert, David and Steven, as well great aunt to Joshua, Julia and William.
Barbara always made time for family and friends for which we are forever grateful. Barbara’s career at Holland College was a springboard to her love of the arts which she took many opportunities to support. She also spent several years helping organize the yard sale for the “Mikinduri Children of Hope” as well as devoting time to “Days for Girls” and organizing Holland College’s team entry “The Steppers” participating in “Run for the Cure”.
Barbara had a passion for weaving. She was an executive member of the PEI Crafts Council and was awarded the Lister Trophy as the 1994 Crafts Person of the Year. She was also a member of the Spinners and Weavers Guild.
Thank goodness for all the memories. Family and friends thank the nursing staff and doctors of the QEH for the care and compassion shown to Barbara.
Donations, if you wish, to the Joan Auld Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation, is just one of many ways to honour Barbara.
At Barbara’s request there will be no visitation and funeral. Simply take time to reflect on a life well lived and shared with all of us. Arrangements entrusted to MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.macleanfh.com
