The family of Jill Moore is deeply saddened to announce her unexpected death at Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, April 8, 2023 following a brief illness. Loving wife of Garth and mother of Alysa and Alexander. Sister of Joan, Mary Lou and Scott MacFarlane. Sister-in-law of Bob (Liz) Moore, and Joan (George Emberly) Golden. Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Everett and Louise MacFarlane of Charlottetown.
Jill was a warm, caring, and exceptional wife, mother and sister with a warm smile you could always hear in her voice. Her formative years were spent on Prince Edward Island followed by studying at Acadia University and working in Ottawa. She followed Garth’s military career and travelled across Canada, Europe, and the United States, picking up the slack whenever he was deployed. Alysa was born in Germany and Alexander in Halifax. She made many friends and acquaintances during those years but was pleased to return to PEI several years ago in preparation for a second career working at the Summerside Tax Centre, which she enjoyed immensely. An avid traveler, she enjoyed many trips – especially to Disney parks with her family. She loved wandering through beautiful gardens, working on puzzles, and spending warm summer evenings in her yard with the family dogs. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and the friends and co-workers who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and spiritual staff who provided care and comfort at Prince County Hospital.
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel from where the service will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Visiting hours from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 of Joanne Marie Groslouis of Charlottetown, age 57 years. Loving wife of Michael Lapointe and mother of Cassandra and Isabella. Sister of Rob (Helen), Peter (Michelle), Jean-Paul (Mandy) and Lise (Colin) Costello. Predeceased by her parents Jacques and Charlotte (Beland) Groslouis.
A kind and creative soul her education included Graphic Arts, Interior Design and Interior Decorating. She was top of class in her Interior Decorating course in the early 2000s. If you wandered into a paint store in Fredericton, Ottawa or Fort McMurray and met Joanne, you would’ve met someone of rare ability in her knowledge about paint; an expert in her field. She also worked at Second Glance Interiors in Halifax, a decorating store that had an island connection. In Fort McMurray, she got her feet wet in Interior Decoration. This was exciting for Joanne. She had several clients including the Mayor. Joanne’s love for her daughters attracted her into Girl Guides. On the island Joanne led many groups of young girls and minds with her sincere love of mentoring young women into positive young adults. Before Covid, discovering that she had a flair to talk to tourists interested in PEI, she trained and became a tour guide giving walking tours talking about the history of Charlottetown. Joanne dreamed on having her own business. She started her business “The Vintage Ladder” focussing on pillows and decorations at first but then she started to make crochet baskets while working at the Lotto Booth at the Confederation Court Mall. She got a break to sell her crafts at “the PEI CO. STORE” were she had success and her business was starting to take off.
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. For those wishing to attend virtually, the service will be live-streamed at https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=e2fb1df4-73fb-4030-81f8-3ed5f8b16ee9 Interment later in Bathurst, N.B. Jennie grew up in Milo and worked in Summerside before marrying Manson. After two years of farming in Brae, they moved to Point Prim, where they built their home and raised their family. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, and her cherished grandchildren adored her. She was active in the Ladies of the Church and the Millenium Club. Her kindness to others was shown in many ways, but especially in the baking she did for those going through tough times.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Gillis Memorial Lodge for the kindness and care Mum/Nannie received there. To Winston and Cathy Murchison, Robin and Kenny Jackson, and Rose MacKinnon, thank you for the support you showed Mum that allowed her to stay in her beloved home until she was 90. To Linda Lea and Neila Nicholson, thank you for your many visits to her in the Lodge. She loved seeing you!
