With great sorrow the family of G. Don Burnett announce his passing on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at his home in Charlottetown, PEI. Don was born in Charlottetown, August 7, 1954 and was the beloved son of George Mathieson Burnett (predeceased) & Jean Katherine Burnett (Ramsay). He is survived by his mother and his step father William James Farris and his four siblings Niall Burnett (Cathy), Katherine Burnett, Peter Burnett (Deborah) and Laurie Caldwell (Doug) and nine nieces and one nephew.
Don won several competitions in gymnastics in his youth and was his high school valedictorian. Upon graduation he studied theatre and dance and became a professional dancer performing in London, England, New York City, Edmonton and the Charlottetown Festival. He co-founded Montage Dance Theatre in the late 1970’s which operated in Charlottetown for 10 years where he shared the position of artistic director, choreographer and dancer with his co-founders. He continued his career as a technical director for several theatres around PEI.
Donnie had a lifelong passion for dance and the arts and a big heart for family and friends who will always remember him for his great sense of humour.
A celebration of Donnie’s life and a private family interment will be held at a later date at the Hillcrest Cemetery family plot in Alberton, PEI.
