“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” – Thomas Campbell
It is with great sadness that we share that Christopher Nelson Vessey passed away at the Palliative Care Centre on January 24, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born and raised in York, PEI Chris pursued his passion for music at UPEI before embarking on adventures in Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Vancouver where he thrived working in the construction industry. He eventually moved back to PEI where he ended up finding his most rewarding career as a compassionate caregiver for people living with disabilities.
Chris was known for his unwavering love for music, which he wholeheartedly shared with his children and grandchildren, instilling in them a lifelong passion for melody and rhythm. Chris was a dedicated seeker of knowledge, constantly expanding his understanding of the world around him. He was also a proud member of the Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights, advocating for responsible firearm ownership and individual rights. Chris' legacy will reverberate through the lives he enriched with his wisdom, boundless love, and unwavering dedication to those he cherished.
Survived by his devoted spouse, Bev MacLean, and his cherished children Kayla (Ron), Garrett (Paige), Morgan (Chris), and Logan (Charley), whom he held in the highest esteem. Additionally, he leaves behind grandchildren Ethan, Rebekah, Dawson, Porter, Jasper, and Harrison whom he adored beyond measure.
Preceded in death by his father, Nelson Vessey, who passed away on December 8, 2023. Chris cherished the privilege of being by Nelson's side during his final three months, a time for which he was profoundly grateful.
Mourning his death are his stepmother Barbara Vessey, stepsisters Lorretta Wooley (Mike Perry) and Colleen Ivey (Mike Doiron); uncle Dwight Vessey (Joan MacKinnon); daughter Jane Vessey (Jordan MacLeod) and aunts Florence (Bobby) Bryenton; children Geoffrey & Jennifer (Joey) Blaxland & Dorothy (Eric Groleau) Vessey; sons Jon Paquin, Thierry Paquin and Anthony Paquin (Véronique Goulet); mother-in-law Janice MacLean (Gordon, deceased); and brother-in-law Aaron (Lori). Uncle of Paija, Teagan and Maleck Doiron, Jesse Campbell and Julia (Ethan Wheeler) Mitchell, Joseph & Jacob MacLean.
Chris lived his life with one deep belief - to always do what is right and extend a helping hand to those in need. In honor of his memory, we humbly urge you to seek out opportunities to spread kindness and compassion to others. Should you feel so inclined, you are welcome to contribute to the Palliative Care Centre. The exceptional staff consistently exceeded expectations, ensuring Chris' final days were filled with peace and comfort, surrounded by his cherished loved ones.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Audrey Jean Wigginton (nee Bevan) on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the age of 81. Audrey was born and raised in Parkdale to Roy and Kay Bevan. In 1959, she met and later married the man of her dreams, Merrill Wigginton, and they shared 59 wonderful, happy years together. In 1974, she graduated with a degree in Sociology from the University of Prince Edward Island. Audrey was a caring and loving mother to Kevin Wigginton (Stephanie) and Karla Gimby (Andrew). She was her children’s biggest cheerleader and greatest supporter. She never missed a swim meet and was always quick with a study snack to feed their minds. Her greatest pride and ultimate joy, however, were her grandchildren - Lorne and Rachel Wigginton, and Katelyn and Cole Gimby. Audrey amazingly kept track of each and every test, sporting event, activity and travel. She never missed wishing good luck or safe travels as her four grandchildren went about setting the world on fire. Audrey is survived by her sister, Shirley Bevan, and brothers Hal Bevan (Janet), Roger Bevan (Susan) and Wayne Bevan (Geraldine) and many nieces and nephews. Audrey was active in her community and church and will be greatly missed by her neighbours and many friends.
