It is with love we announce the passing of our mother on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Charlottetown.
Jean was born in Aylmer, Ontario in 1935. She had a wonderful, adventurous upbringing in rural Ontario. This set the tone for how she lived her life. She graduated from nursing school at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where she met her husband, Stewart.
In 1971 with 3 young children, a move was made to PEI and the island became her true home. Winters were spent returning to Quebec to ski, summers spent camping and taking kids to the beach. Her 37 year nursing career was spent in emergency departments at the Royal Vic, Charlottetown City Hospital and QEH where she thrived on the camaraderie with coworkers and fast pace. Her work circle provided many long lasting friendships. Jean was an active member of St. Peters Anglican Church, volunteering with Altar Guild, fudge sales and anything else asked of her.
Retirement afforded her the time to learn and love tennis, becoming a rug hooker, cycling, and world travel with Stew. She took great pride in her garden and producing delicious Sunday dinners. She loved when the entire family got together, as her grandchildren brought great joy to their Nana. After Stew’s passing, annual European cycle vacations with daughters began. Her last cycling trip was to Portugal in 2022 at 86 years of age. Her motto “always keep moving”.
Jean is lovingly remembered by daughters Susan (David Cook) and Allison Crowell (Mike). Nana to Alex Cook, Stewart Cook (Alexandra), Christine Cook, Sarah Crowell (Seamus Boyle), Brad Crowell, Cameron Crowell, Eva Sayn-Wittgenstein and Leo Sayn-Wittgenstein. Great Grandmother to Quinn Boyle and Florence Cook. Also remembered by son in law Alex Sayn-Wittgenstein, nieces Heather, Nancy and Jennifer, nephew Alan.
She was predeceased by husband Stewart, daughter Catherine, her sister Mary and brother-in-law John./p>
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. There will be no service or visitation at Jean’s request. A private graveside service will be held in the spring. If desired, donations in memory of Jean can be made directly to St. Peter’s Cathedral Charlottetown or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

Peacefully, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Norma “Dobie” Lewis passed away surrounded by love at the age of 72.
Daughter of the late Marion and Charles Butler. Norma was the beloved wife of Lloyd Lewis, devoted mother of TJ (Kathryn), and cherished grandmother to Harper and Hayley.
She was a loving sister to Eileen (Norbert) Rafferty, Anne Skerry, Helen (Robert) Turner, and Sharon (Allan Matters) Bridges, and a dear sister-in-law to Wanda (Richard) Livingstone. She leaves behind a legacy of love among her 14 nieces and nephews and 18 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Norma was predeceased by her beloved son Cory Allen, daughter Dawna Lynn, parents Marion and Charlie Butler, parents-in-law Vera and Harvey Lewis, brother-in-law Clifford Skerry, grandnephew Dennis Milligan, and brothers Vernon and Elvin.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2014, Norma defied the odds with her strength and determination, blessing her family with 10 more precious years filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She was an inspiration to many, offering hope and courage through her journey.
Above all, Norma dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was the heart of every gathering, a source of warmth and kindness, always ready to help anyone in need. She loved music, especially celebrating her son’s musical achievements with his band, The Fabulously Rich. She found joy in Sunday drives through the countryside, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, shopping trips with her sisters and granddaughters, and cooking meals that brought everyone together. Her love extended to her cherished dog, Lexi, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Her love, generosity, and gentle spirit made her not just a mother, sister, and grandmother – but also a best friend and a healing presence to all who knew her.
Though she is no longer with us, Norma’s love and light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre, QEH, and Provincial Palliative Care Centre for their care and assistance during Norma’s cancer journey and her final days.
